“Accidentally in Love with…A God?” is a urban fantasy about a girl who hear a sexy voice inside her head who turned out to be a primal god who was trapped inside a cenote in Mexico. In addition to that, apparently the whole thing was somewhat related to her grandmother’s disappearance and her weird connection with Votan or as she call him – Guy. The series introduce us to Mayan mythology which was an unfamiliar territory for me but I’m always up for mythological stuff.
However, although there are a prominent sexual tension and romance in this book, there’s hardly any sex in here until near the end of the book but for most part, the story is quite enjoyable as it is. Emma’s character function as a character introduction into the series (blank slate) and was well-developed from the beginning to the end of the book. Her interactions between the rest of the character does come out as unexpected, sarcastic but completely funny and enjoyable at the same time.
But I don’t really get the necessity of Tomasso throughout the book and I don’t really get why the idea of having sex with a god in a human body would zap/kill a human or demigoddess but I still enjoy the book and its humor, mystery, action and mythology. It’s a good and well-written PNR novel without too much explicitness but I don’t find myself invested enough by the characters or the blurb to continue on with the series.
